An update for striking SEIU Kaiser Permanente workers

The Education Fund has been notified that SEIU-UHW, SEIU Local 49 and SEIU Local 105 members will be striking at all Kaiser Permanente facilities from October 4 to 6. Contract negotiation is the foundation of a healthy labor-management relationship and the only guarantee that employees have for safe, fair, working conditions. The Education Fund affirms the right of employees to engage in protected activity including strikes.

The Education Fund will continue to provide all services to striking members as long as the services are not taking place inside a Kaiser Permanente facility. Education Fund staff are not on strike and are available to provide regular services to eligible union members during the strike.

Please note that Ed Leave is an important education benefit that is not controlled or administered by the Education Fund. We recommend talking to your union steward and manager if you have a question about the use of Ed Leave during a labor strike.
