Opportunities for SEIU 1021 Members
The Education Fund is working with SEIU 1021 on grant-funded programs and services for SEIU members training for healthcare, public health and community health jobs in California. These programs are for SEIU 1021 members only. To qualify, sign up today at seiu1021.org.
This grant will serve 1,000 members in education programs starting in 2023 and continuing through 2025. Programs are grant funded by the State of California through the HRTP Resilient Workforce General Fund (RWF) Program. Funding is targeted to address workforce shortages and build labor-management partnership in workforce training for union employment.

In-person trainings in BLS, ACLS, and PALS are being offered to 1021 members in San Francisco at the following locations and times, with classes in San Joaquin and Alameda Counties coming soon:

Tuition Support and Career Pathways
This program will support 1,000 members in Education Fund programs for tuition support and career pathways for high need healthcare, public health and community health roles. The goal of the grant is to build labor-management partnership to solve workforce needs and to advance grant participants’ careers through training and job placement.

- Career pathways and apprenticeships including: Phlebotomy, Sterile Processing, Mental Health Certificates and RN-to-BSN. (Specific programs will vary with each county.)
- Career Advice – 1:1 with one of our Career Counselors
- Need-based laptop usage and childcare stipend

Huda is an Education Fund Regional Coordinator serving members of SEIU 521 and SEIU 1021 in Santa Clara, San Francisco and Kern Counties. She will focus on serving non-Education Fund eligible workers through grant funding in the immediate term while our teams plan for the longer-term sustainability of services with new partners through expanded employer contributions. Huda comes to the Ed Fund with a background in case management and direct patient care in healthcare. Her previous experience includes serving as a Housing Coordinator at Housing Choices, where she managed a caseload of more than 70 families with developmental disabilities, exceeding their caseload quota by 133%. Additionally, she has worked as a sales manager focusing on direct client marketing and advertising, digital sales, and contract negotiations. Huda earned their Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University, Monterey Bay and is a fluent Arabic speaker.
